Hello Luan,

Welcome to APF. Please show us your portfolio.

Oh, I didn't realise that this would be posted! Does your forum create a post for each new member? I've noticed a lot of "Hi, I'm new" posts. I signed up mainly so I could use the "New Posts" feature - I love the photos that you guys take, and this would be an easy way to check for new posts.

I'm not much of a photographer. I intend to be at some stage when I find the time. I don't think I have the right equipment.... I think I need some more lighting to go with my camera to get the kind of photos you guys get. At a shutter speed (is this the right terminology?) of 1/250, pictures of my tank are black. And I can't work out how you guys can hold your camera so steady for the pictures. When I use my tripod, I can't get the fish to stay still enough!

Luan, 1/250 is a very high shutter speed, I can get away with 1/50 or 1/100 and I am happy. Yes, you need better lighting or a good flash. Put other strips, as much light as you can, then keep taking shots, each time lowering the shutter speed until you get to the right exposure.

You can take better pics, seriously. It's not that hard, just learn to use the equipment.
