Hello! My name is Jessica, or Jess and I live in NE WI. I've had freshwater tanks, my 38g in particular, since I was 17, so that's over 13 years now (but don't you dare add that together!).
In October of '05 I brought the 20g upstairs, filled it with salt water which thus began a one year journey of learning, cursing, loving and hating everything about keeping a saltwater tank. I finally decided that after an outbreak of hair algae and the thought of spending another couple hundred to upgrade my tank, add a sump, etc, etc, that I just wasn't a die hard reef tank keeper, and I missed the simplicity that my 38g used to be when it was "just" a freshwater tank.
So last week a reef club member came and we agreed on a price for all of the corals, fish and clean up crew, and today another member came to take all of the live rock. Tomorrow I need to drain the tank so that I can CATCH those fish and get them to their new owner and then it's time for a thorough scrubdown!!!
I plan to try German blue rams, a fish which I've always admired but never kept. I am going to purchase a pair to start with, along with some otos, cory cats and congo tetras.
My 72g bowfront has been up and running through the whole salt ordeal and now it needs some long overdue attention, tho the fish are all doing great. I've only lost one fish in there in the last 3 years, and he was about 5 years old. In the 72g I have a green severum, a firemouth, a clown loach and a common pleco, 2 brown knifefish, 2 pictus cats and 3 giant danios. Pretty much stocked if not overstocked!
I was invited here by Sprayin70 who I know from a reef forum. Thank you!!! Time to go check out this site!!!
