Hi, Im Tyler Long from Fort Myers Florida. I have a few fish, but they're not monsters(yet):D
Right now I have a Clown Knife Fish and a Bala Shark.
Where i live its pretty humid most of the time, and i was wondering if I could keep a tank in a screened in room, like a patio.
Do you think this would be okay for the fish? And would I need any special equipment?
Thanks, Tyler

Hi Tyler and welcome to MFK :)

Its been as low as the 20s here lately :banhim:

lol, just kidding!

You will want your tank temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. You will need a tank heater for when the temperatures cool off at night. Also, you will want to check to make sure it doesn't get much above 80 on your porch. Within reason, fish are fairly temperature tolerant...but temperature changes are very stressful.

You will want to make sure your tank isn't in direct sunlight. Of course, this will heat your water...but will also contribute to massive algae blooms. Place the tank in a shaded area of the porch.

Other than that, you'll want to make sure your tank is stable and mounted on a moisture resistant stand. I don't have to worry too much about humidity here in my living room lol :)

Oh, make sure you have a GF rated plug close by to handle the filter, heater, lights, etc. You won't want to use a cheesy 3 receptacle extension cord snaked through the window and plugged into a standard wall outlet inside.

Good luck to you!

First off, Thanks!
its gotten in the 30s at night here.
I will have blinds on all the windows, and will have a heater.
i think that water is always a little cooler than the air around it.
I have an opportunity to get a 30 and 55 gallon tank for 40 dollars, now i need to make some of those DIY filters.. I already made an eggcrate hood and Christmas LED light lighting. :)
