Hi guy, Im hector , Im new here, i just want to say all the information that people have provided on this site are great. I have never kept frsh water rays before but this forum has got me hooked. I have a few questions on filtration, I plan on buying a 125 gallon tank and I plan to house 3 retics, 1 male 2 females , and 4 polytherus senegals and maybe 2 sevrums. I know it's small but if the rays get to big ill get another tank. I was planning on getting wet dry but is it necessary or can i go with 2 canisters. I plan on doing 50% water change every week, with the large water change are the canisters fine or should i go with the wet dry. I am new to sting rays but I have kept marine fish, africans and large south american cichlids. I just want to know if the wet dry is overkill. thanks .

Welcome:welcome:
Well I suggest that if you are going to be buying equipment anyway get a wet/dry. Filtration can never be overkill.

The set up that you are planning is going to have a very large bio-load in comparision to other fish. Get the wet/dry you will not be disapointed. I would also say that if you are going to buy a new tank anyway just get a 180, then you will not have to upgrade.

good luck with the rays, and welcome to the obsession

thanks for the reply, ok wet dry it is. 180 would be nice but I cant fit it in my room. hehe yes the 125 will be going in my bedroom . :) also can i grow out the rays if i get pups in a 55, and what size should i switch them to the 125. I already have the 55 in my room and my lfs has retic pups for $25 .
