Hi, I've been working on a Paludarium for my Mata Mata for about 2 months now and due to jumping back and forth on what the finished product should be. I've been searching forums for help with pluming and general ideas for background mediums and thats what lead me here (and a whole bunch of other forums as-well) It's coming along at a relatively steady pace now but I'm sure in the up coming weeks while I continue to work on it I will have lots more questions and hopefully I might be able to help some new friends with problems they may be having. So here's a picture of it so far (none of the cork bark or wood are sealed in yet except for the waterfall which is only half done) Next I need to decide if Im gonna put a underlayment cement rock wall on the left side or more like if I have the patents to add on a few weeks of production time.

And since I'm new Heres some pictures of my aquatic Friends. I have a lot of land dwellers two but I figured these buys are more relevant.

and Kelly Jr. my Imperial Zebra Pleco (thats what the tag said on the tank at the pet-shop but she only cost me 45$ so I knew she wasn't a real zebra pleco. maybe someone can help me identify her????)

Boggieboard and Kelly Jr. live in the same tank their best buds. They have been living together for about 6 months now with no problem the snapper doesn't even harass her let alone try to take a bite.

Next I really want to get a Fly River Turtle but I don't think I have the room for another big tank right now. It's probably worth throwing out some furniture to accommodate a 150gal though who needs bookshelf anyway it doesn't even have books on it just dvds? Plus FRT's are phenomenally cool.... and cute to watch. Might go with a Leachianus though cause it's got to go in my room on the second level and with all the tanks and cages in here a 150gal filled with water might just drop the room threw the floor?

Whenever you are feeling down, look at a picture of a mata mata. Such great turtles.

You're right that isn't a Hypancistrus zebra, looks like a nice Dekeyseria brachyura (L168).

As much as I love frts... get a leachie!

Great pics. I love mata matas.

I thought mata matas never left water only to lay eggs?

I ask since your building a Paludarium ?

I don't think they do but I wanted to make a cool tank and I thought if it was high I could make some big ledges in and get a few aboral friends for him. I can't really put any fish in there cause there's not enough room for anything big enough that he won't eat

Wellcome to the forum. I would recomend that you lower considerably the water level of your snapper tank, having to contantly going up and down its very anoying to snappers and also they can drown, specialy when they are so small. Also what have you been feeding it? I assume you have it for 6 plus mouths but he does seem a bit small for its age, snappers are acomplished growers and for what Ive seen they can duble in size in a matter of like 2 mouths. Makes me wonder if the energy expense of dealing with the high water isnt afecting him. By the way say bye to that pleco if he keeps being housed where he is, when the snapper is one year old or less he will be able to crush the cat fish armor with complete ease

Lay off on the guy hes just started, always an opinion on everything. Sweet tank though dude!
