Hi, I was volunteered into the fish hobby by my father-in-law about 7 years ago. They just bought a new china cabinet and the 55 gallon tank they had was taking up valuable floor space. So, I became the new owner. Since then it became a Malawi cichlid tank for a few years. Then my wife rescued a half dozen comets/goldfish while out looking at garage sale. So this mandated a quick tank purchase for them.
Due to moving across country a few years ago, we had to find new homes for everyone(except the blind goldfish, Sharkie). Now I've started over with just Sharkie in the 55 gallon tank. So over this past year, we have a collection of store bought and adopted fish. I've begun to expand in adding plants, which is a little bit of a challenge with goldfish. So my plants are doing well. I got a blue lobster because I was curious to see how easy/difficult it would be to care for them. He's a very good tank mate.
I just recently bought a 200 gallon tank (7x2x2) off of craigslist and plan on transporting everyone into that tank. Which is the reason why I'm here. I'm looking for a lot of info on DIY wet/dry sumps, canopies, & misc things unique to owning a large fish tank.
Thanks,
Pete
