Then in 1996 I bought a 29 gallon and a 2 gallon. I first kept some Africans then they got ick and all died. I tore down the tank; cleaned it and started over with what I can't remember. Then I bought a 40g. used. There was this Green Terror at PetCo that someone didn't want. So I inquired about it...free...so I took it home. The guy had it for 4 years but was deployed and had to get rid of it.Then I was given a 90 gallon, and my green terror lived in there. I thought he was lonely so I bought 3 TinFoil Barbs for company. My cat fished her/him out of the tank and mauled him a little. His eye got damaged and it kept getting infected no matter what I did and he died about 2 years ago.
I had some Jack Dempsys and then I fell onto the tank when I was on crutches and the whole back end was completely demolished because the Magnum 250 went through the back. Water everywhere...took many many goings over with the carpet cleaner. I had to put them into my 120g with my Texas. In the 40g I kept a Firemouth he killed the other one. I also had a Salvini and he was really mean always beating up on the others; at the time I had Salvinis, Jacks, and Firemouths together...bad move! Got rid of the Salvini.
Few years later I bought a used 125g and a 50g but I never got to use them. Lost them in a storage unit auction. I sold the 40g because I had no room for it when we moved from my parents house.
I have only the 120g now...in which I have 4 Tinfoils and 5 Texas Cichlids.
I have had many spawning between all the Texas. Sold some, kept a few...some got killed. The male is very mean, he killed 1 female before. His father killed his female too.
One Tinfoil is seven almost eight years old, my orginal 1 then another died from shock of some sort. I'm guessing it had something to do with the water change I did using a new declorinator... maybe put too much. I just purchased a 10g used, I will be putting one of my mated pair of Texas in it so they can spawn in peace. My big Texas won't let them spawn as he chases them constantly especially now that we again are having my 12th spawn. I don't remove the babies because I have no room to put them. We now live in an RV and can't have a tank in it. My 120 is in my Mom's cake shop. I'm glad my husband doesn't mind all the aquariums. The customers enjoy looking at the fish too, and are in awe of the size of the fish.
I guess thats about it!
to MFK!
