hi nitrites and low ammo. for 2 weeks?!?!

its a secret
ok i got a new tank. its a 20L and im trying to breed some cons in it to feed to my 4 RBP but i cant get the da*n nitrites down. the tank has been set up for almost 3 weeks and the nitrites are still maxed out on my test kit. i have been puttin PRIME in every day or two and i have a aqua clear 20 for a filter. im running out of ideas. i need the nitrites to go down so the cons will do thier think.. any help is greatly appreciated!!

I wouldnt do a water change, the tank is probably still cycling. It's going to take a little time to seed the biomedia in the aquaclear, which might not be enough on its own. You might try adding some sludge to the filter from a fully cycled filter. a water change would slow the process down.
 
Your tank is still cycling. The nitrites won't come down until bacteria covert nitrites to nitrate. This part of the cycle usually takes the longest. The nitrites will suddenly read zero one day, and you'll have nitrate readings. Then your tank will be cycled.
 
I dont know what to call it other than sludge lol....just what's built up on the filter:)
