It all started when my parents couldn't afford a television, so Mom put me on top of the clean laundry in the basket to watch my Dad's fish. The rest is history! I have been keeping fish for over 28 years now & worked in the industry for about 8.

I have kept a total of 14 puffers at one time. One of my favorites is a 12" fahaka puffer (Filbert) living in a 125g w/a couple of red-tail & rainbow sharks & 2 very large plecos. There is only a 1% chance of finding a mellow fellow like mine, as most fahaka puffers are vicious killers! Other larger puffers I kept were 2 (6") GSPs and a (5") Ceylon. They were in a 55g marine tank w/assorted damselfish, a tomato clown & hermit crabs. I eventually had to re-home those puffers, as that tank way overstocked. Sad day it was too... still miss those big eyes peering over my shoulder as I type at my computer. I’m sure that 55g would have made a great home for just one of those fantastic creatures! Freshwater puffers I have kept: South American puffers, dwarf puffers and a pignose/arrowhead puffer (T suvattii). My pride and joy is a bright red Congo puffer (T miurus). I also presently have 2 brackish Figure 8 puffers (T biocellatus), living w/knights, bumblebees & a dragon gobies. Another oddball puffer I’m keeping is an A. modestus. My husband’s favorite tank is my lovely 90g planted tank, w/stunning discus, loaches, synodontis, plecos & other oddballs.

For a long time I kept reptiles/amphibians too. There were 2 55g river tanks. 1 had assorted toads, treefrogs & African clawed frogs. The other had a dwarf African bullfrog, African sideneck, Asian map & softshell turtle. I had a lot of fun keeping 6 assorted box turtles that had a very nice habitat in the backyard and lived in my basement in a kiddie pool during the winter. I had some of them for well over 15 years.

I have a pufferfish website, The Puffer Forum (www.**************.com) & am on the Crew of WetWebMedia, in addition to trying to help out other fourms. I wrote the pufferfish profiles for the 2005 edition of TFH’s book, Encyclopedia of Exotic Tropical Fishes, published several articles in the online magazine, the Conciencious Aquarist, TFH magazines and PFK mag. I am a scuba diver & underwater phographer. I ride my own 1982 custom Shovelhead Harley-Davidson & avid tattoo collector. My Jack Russell Terrier (Kalvin the Krazydog) rides on the back and wins ribbons for racing other JRTs!
