Hi everybody :)

I just found this great page being deeply interested in great fishes like you all have. After having started breeding and importing Fancy Goldfishes (Yeah I know...feeders:evil_lol:) as a sideline after being furtherly trained in Fisheries and Aquaculture and now being a little bored with Goldies I want to come back to my roots keeping native Freshwater Fishes especially the huge ones

My favourite available here in Germany is the Big Catfish (Silurus glanis) and as early as I will find time to start I want to get one and watch it growing :)

Preparingly I hope to have some nice communication and fine information here with and from you.

So I am really looking forward to learn more about Monsterfishkeeping.

So much for now about myself, please feel free to ask :grinyes:

Best wishes

Andre

...a little completion ;)

My largest "Feeder" is about 35 cm/about 14 inch next to some Koi-Carps and the largest tank I constructed myself yet is about 5000 Liter/about 1300 Gallons.

Here you will find an old picture of the "Skeleton":

Hallo Andre.

Thanks! :)

But the 2 pictures I posted vanished, actually it was one from my large Feeder and one of the "Skeleton" of my tank-construction...

What happened:confused:

Dear Repair,

I will just reply in english according to the standard but I really appreciated your words :)

I have not visited the Riz Carlton yet but I guess I know what you mean, wasn´t it this huge Aquarium with a build-in elevator? I saw some reports on television, if it is the same.

The greatest Aquarium here in Germany is in Düsseldorf called the Löbbecke Aqua Zoo, great tanks with great and huge fishes, I think at least every two years I visit it. I am living right in the middle between Cologne and Bonn the former Capital City, so it is not a long way to Düsseldorf, but a little farer away from Berlin ;)

e.g.:

I would like to show some pictures, but as I posted before my pictures vanished and I don´t know why. Probably all my fishes are not interesting yet, just little fishes, I also want to start my Hobby-Catfish-Keeping with a small one especially to accustom it to artificial nutrition ("artificial" not beeing meant as inferior) for a better application of customized nutrients.

:)

European natives huh? Keep us updated on how that goes, I don't think I know anyone who keeps fish native to your area. I would be interested to learn more about them.

Sure, I will :)

It is quiet easy to keep and breed all of our natives in a large pond, but it is quiet more difficult in a tank I guess, I really have not tried before, so that is why I do want to be best informed preparingly.

Even the professional work with my Goldfishes showed me that there is a step from "knowing" to "doing" ;)

I really love our natives, unfortunately I do not have the space to keep a specimen of each.

I already kept smaller ones like Minnows and they are so great in coloration, bleedingly-red while spawning.

I keep many North American native, I cannot imagine most Euro natives being much different. There is a coldwater fish section on this site so when you setup your tanks make sure you stop by there and share with the others what you have learned. I'm sure I am not the only one interested.
