you have a redline, or giant snakehead. (Channa micropeltes) biggest growing species, up to 5' and when i say mean i mean MEAN guys!!. he's a juvi, they grow very different patterens as adults.

Phew that's one long sentence. LOL. Looks like you got a couple of small Channa micropeltes. Check the stickies for more info. Otherwise I'm sure the snakehead fiends here will help you out. Welcome to MFK. :)

edit: XR got the fast reply on lock.

HI, u got urself two micropeltes. This species is not suitable for normal aquariums, they become fierce predators, and grow up to one meter in length, and 15 kilogramms. How big is ur tank ? and what strength is the glass ?? There are rumours about micros breaking aquaria. Brucki

thanks for that lol as i was reading the posts i was telling myself what did i do? (in a good way) when i had my piranhas i had red belly's and everyone told me the red belly's are good for beginners so i thought since redlines are so common there good for beginners and just saw the sticky should have looked a bit better there thanks a lot guys for the info one last thing it said on the sticky by plausible Feeding: Accept most large meaty food types. can i throw in there some raw chicken or salmon?

Thanks
PS i always write without apostrophes so(,,,....) ill use them later ;)

LOL.
i have 3 of these guys in a pond with other fish.
but the pond is heavily stocked with fish that keep breeding so the channas dont run out of food.
they grow fast.
get to 4 feet max in the aquarium.
have the biggest teeth of all the channas.
get more aggressive with age.
try getting them onto dead foods at around 4 inches.

hehe ill be looking forward to them growing sorry brucki i forgot to answer your question my tank is 4 foot now (i found that out by carrying my little brother and putting him horizontally towards the tank well he was in my room and i was tired to get a tape measure or something)sadly with glass that i think might break if the rumors are true. my older brother has a huge aquarium with glass that im sure will not break it has a plastic feel to it lol ill be taking that when hes not looking ;)

Hello,

please try to find already now a zoo or somebody with a big pond in your neighbourhood to keep them later.

You will never be able to keep them for long, maximum one year and even before (don't know anything about tankmates) they might get you into trouble.

An alle Deutschen hier im board: Hallo raubsalmler.de ;)

cheers Thimo

ill keep that in mind thanks scorp but with a 2 meter tank and hard glass i doubt they will get me in trouble. if they do get to much for me to handle my cousin has a pond with gars in it so ill ask if its possible for them to live together for a while the thing is there so much fun to keep for now and with age they change color a bit seen one with blue and black stripes smaller than the one posted above by --XR-- and there very Imprasive. i had so many fish before but never liked them as much as i like the snakehead so they will have to get me in Deep Crap for me to give away. ;)
