well I found out about this place in the tropoical fish hobbyist mag. and saw the add with a large payara head and was like woah I need to look there...
a little about me... I turn 14 this thursday... I have kept freshwater for 9 years.
Saltwater for 1 1/2 yrs. but Have read about fish and herps for my whole life... I love fishing, hunting ,shooting guns, dirtbiking, anything outside... I LOVE scuba diving... we were in cozumel when hurrican wilma hit and had to cut our vacation short.... Well we got out of fish for about (actually since the end of our vacation oct. 27. until a week ago)
I love oddball preds.
my favorite saltwater fish or the pterois and dendrochirus species of lionfish and have kept pterois russeli, pterois mombasae, dendrochirus brachypterus
I love freshwater though... My favorite 2 freshwater fish are the asian "featherfin" species of knifefish, particularly the royal knife, clown knife, there are a several of the not so common featherbacks that I like to... But one fish I have loved for litterally my whole life are the bony tounges... mainly the arowanas... Aros are real rare here in broken arrow, OK. Like silvers go for 60$ at 6 inches (
) but I am saving up for a black...
the freshwater fish I have kept include 3 silver aros, chaca chaca catfish, 18" clown knife, 14 red tail catfish, huge lima shovelnose, arrowhead puffers, mbu puffers, needlefish, saltwater deepwater lionfish, fuzzy dwarf lionfish, russel lionfish mozambique scorpionfish, my brother had a golden guineafowl puffer, stars and stripes puffer and a LOT more of fresh and salt (this is all I can think of off the top of my head...)
but we have sold,or traded some of the fish... But unfortunately I have also had my share of bad luck...
but we are re-setting up a 36 fresh, 220 fresh, and 75 salt
the 36 gal. just cycled and I am picking up a baby red high-fin wolffish...
the herps I have
borneo short-tailed python
jungle carpet python
alligator snapping turtle
cuviers' dwarf caiman
american alligator
well thank you,
Shane
I am sure I will love this site
