Hi everyone, i'm new on here so still learning how it all works. i have acquired a male 12' and female 12' jaguars cichlids that i'm trying to pair up. i noticed that the male has a bend in his tail. i'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this?? is it from stunted growth in there last tank?? not sure what size that was. also what i think is the female has clear a large area in the tank and is being quite aggressive to the male. is this common?? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to MFK. The tail deformation could be caused by a number of things. Water quality and tank size are possible causes. As far as the "female" clearing a spot and aggression towards the other Jag, it would help if you had pics so we could identify male/female.

Welcome to MFK! Pictures will really help. A 12' jaguar? That's huge! Kidding aside, if he has grown to 12", I'd say he is not stunted at all but I don't know his age. They can certainly grow larger.
the first image is what i think is the male. and the less spotted and rounder of the two is what i think is the female. she is still being agressive to the male. they are absolutly huge!!!!i have also noticed alot of tiny white worms too small to see on the camera less than a mm in length. did a 70% water change today but they still there i havnt had the tank setup for long now, about 3 weeks. i added a 7 inch plec to the tank today from my midas tank and it seems to be eating them quite alot so hopefully it gets them under control. is there any treatments to irradicate them?
