Back in action!
New(b) member here!

Purchased a Nikon D70s with 18-70mm kit lens this past weekend. Had been using a Sony p+s dscp200 for the last 6 months. Got tired of the lack of manual controls on the Sony.

I have 4 colonies of Tropheus, a colony of Cyprichromis L. Utintas and a group of N. Brevis Ruziba.

I plan on purchasing a SB600 and tripod very shortly and a macro lens in the near future.

I also have Photoshop 7 on my pc but am considering upgrading to CS2 maybe.
I'm a relative nOob when it comes to photography as well as Photoshop so I'll be doing lots of reading on this site. Already have actually.

I love shooting fish although I've been told many times Tropheus are some of the toughest to shoot. (I'm always up for a challenge!) I also plan to shoot quite a bit outdoors.

I do see some familiar names here so that's a bonus as well!

Gerry

This looks very promising:

nice camera + nice fishes + Photoshop = means + motive + opportunity

 Go for it

Hi, Gerry! Welcome on APF!
As I see your advanced photography progress last mounts…
you’re not just climbing step by step…you running’ uphill …

Glad to see your photos and to be helpful about with any suggestion!
Cheers!

Thanks, Hristo! I'm having a lot of fum with my new hobby! I've expanded my equipment to include 2 speedlashes, a 70-300mm f/4-5.6 zoom lens and a 105mm f/2.8 micro.

I'm still quite shy about posting pics here as I just don't see my photos competing with the awesome photography on display here.

Gerry

Don’t worry, mate…:-) You just have no idea what was my “advanced” equipment
and the photo’s quality…:-( starting here just 2 years ago…

You will lose that shyness soon enough! I have seen your shots, I would be showing them off. Heck...I didn't pick up photography until January (of this year). APF helped me, it can help anyone.

We encourage ALL our members to share their photos. Please, no inhibitions here. Everyone has started somewhere with a camera and fish. The more photos you post on the APF, the more help you will find to improve your shots.

The first photos I posted here were taken with my wife's Kodak Easyshare. The APF team and membership gave me advice on how to improve my images. Then they helped me decide on what my next camera equipment would be...they even helped me find the best price.:-o In a short time I went from a reluctant image poster (because I too felt intimidated by the good work shared here) to one of the top posters, an Advice Team member, a full Moderator, to one of the staff Global Moderators. I even done well in various photo contests here, and at other popular sites.

Don't be shy or intimidated.

Beside's, we all really enjoy viewing everyone's pets. So keep sharing.:-D

Gerry, well done in the photo contest on the other site. Hmm, I'm fairly convinced now that it doesn't matter what I post it's gonna keep getting beaten down..... I'm finally out, done and dusted.

I can't take the random irregular judging any more.

All of my aquatic photography will be posted on this site from this point on, at least the people here can judge it based on photographic skill and ability, which is what I'm interested in, rather than a sway of bias in regards, inevitably, to who the poster is and what the fish is.

Am I just being a sore loser? I am now,, heck, you could say I'm royally pissed off! I'm not saying my shot was great, but once again I feel it has not been appreciated.

Meh. Hopefully I'll get better input on this site, although no way I'm entering the comp here with all of these fish photo nuts, haha, at least I KNOW I'm bad in comparison lol.

;)
