Hi guys and girls.

Been lurking for awhile now but never posted before as I only had a cheap P&S camera and my photos were lousy.

Anyway last Thursday I finally bought myself a DSLR.

I went with the Canon 400D. It came with a twin lense kit. EFS 18-55mm and EF 75-300mm

I have read the manual quite a few times and will be reading it several more times yet. Each time I read it I pick up something new.

I have been taking hundreds of photos and playing with different settings, so I know what each one does and looks like.

These are some of the photos I took over the past few days.

Please be kind to me :) but I will gladly accept ay hints and tips offered. I'm here to learn.

Also got a copy of Photoshop Elements 5.0. I have alot of reading here as this is all so confusing, but slowly picking it up.

Firstly, welcome to the forum. :)

Congrats on the new Canon. I'm sure you'll enjoy owning it and I'm sure the pics will make you quite happy.

Feel free to post in the Aquatic DSLR folder, or in the Critique folder if you'll looking for some serious critique and feedback.

I see you have some thredfin rainbows. They're one of my favorites in my collection and you'll find a couple of threads in the DSLR folder where a few of us have posted what we've been able to accomplish with this little gem of a fish! Not an easy fish to capture!

Please also keep in mind that for everyone's enjoyment, we ask that members post only 5 pics per post. We all love to share our pics and we want all of our members to be able to enjoy them! :)

Thanks for the warm welcome Chaitika. I'm sorry about all the photos, I'll make sure I keep to the limit. :)

I think I take quite a few more photos before I post in the Critique Folder. I'm still finding my way around Photoshop.

I'll make sure I look up those threads regarding Threadfins. They are a nice fish and one of my favorites.

Welcome, mate! Glad to see you here :-)
Congrats on the new camera!

Seeing again your lovely Rainbows...:-P the first thing I'll suggest you is -
begin save up some money for external flash/es... :-)

Hello Hristo and thankyou.

I'm already saving up for a couple of external flashes and a EF 100mm f/2.8 macro. So hopefully one day my photos will be as good as yours.
