My Channa arrived 5 days ago. I am still unsure what exact species they are but other members have identified them as either gachua or bleheri. They were fairly stressed the first few days of being added to the tank but they seem to have settled in and found their own territory (theres 4) they ate yesterday for the first time since ive gotten them (might have eaten earlier but this was the first sinking food I found) so I fed them 3 shrimp between the four of them (I am also 98% positive they ate the 2x small clown loaches I had in the tank as they are no where to be found.) My main question is .. even though they are more settled in and looking better they are still spending most of their time in active and hiding out of sight. Is this normal behavior for channa? will they eventually warm up more and spend more time paroling the tank so I can view them? If not what could be causing their hiding?

Most Bleheri's do hide. I owned one for a couple months, but not long enough to find out if it would become more active..

your channa has been definitely identified NOt to be bleheri, not even sp. Assam. They are gachua.
For Channa ist pretty normal to hide when they feel unsecure and scared. snakeheads that are settled in, are not shy at all...... if the tank is decoratet in the right way !
Beiing inactive is a sign for beeing stressed, too. Especially with young channa. Normally these swim around and search for food very active (but trhere are differences between species). Gron out channa are not that active , but are present and visible in the aquarium most the time (when they want to ;-) ) But Wild caught channa never get as "domesticated" as aquarium bred channa.
Give them time, lots of hiding places, and they will settle in.

Thanks again, and I'm only saying this due to the fact that I did not have pictures posted of every snakahead and each look completely different. I wrote the seller who sent em the channa wondering what can be done about this as I ordered channa bleheri but got these channa gachua. Not that there is anything wrong with gachua but my LFS had gachua to offer me from their stock list for roughly $20-25 each but could not offer me bleheri. I decided to purchase bleheri from this site and pay $180 for the four channa assuming they were bleheri. I could have gotten gachua for $80-$90 less locally. Anyone have an experience like this or know what I should expect (if anything) the seller to do?
