My fm con has been hiding from me every time i come in the room. I wonder if she is afraid of being caught. took her ou and put her in a bucket so i would not crush her when i was moviing rocks. I cant get her to come up to eat. She usualy seems fine right when i come in the room but then when she sees me she hides in her pipe.

I think maybe moving her into the bucket frightened her. She will be ok in a couple days. Just give her some time to get used to her surroundings again. She might do this every time you need to take out the rocks to clean/move. If the rocks arent really necessary then I would just omit them from the set up.

Has this just been a recent occurance? And is she the only one in the tank. Cons are smart and have quite a memory, so she may just be sulking and a bit skiddish for a while if you have recently scooped her. She may feel more at home if dithers were present. It lets her know that all is well if other, dumb fish are swimming around rather than hiding.

when my fm con was hiding i though se might be sick...but I looked closer and se was gaurding a bunch of eggs.
yup, thats what I was going to say. Every time my female is hiding she is protecting her brood. I take it you have a male too, right?

Nope no male. She is just a pet. Good news guys. Tonight i came in my room and she looked happy to see me. She even came to the surface before i put the food in.:) :) This makes me happy. She is one of my two prized fish.
