Hi,

Today I saw an amazing arowana tank with 8 High-Back Golden. These animals lived in a tank with simular size as mine (mine is 20 cm higher and 10 cm less deep). Of course they were not all completely undamaged, but they looked great and healthy as a group and it looks they could get along quite well with each other. All were the same size; about 40 cm.

The owner said that they lived together since they were very small. In the last years he removed just 1 agressive one.

They were for sale, so I am excited as you can imagine!
I have money for like 5 or 6 of them. Would it be possible to buy a group of lets say 6 and introduce them all at the same time in my tank?

Would keeping them together as a group still be possible?

Personally i've never see a comm. tank of Asian Arowanas without any comm. defects at all. By defects i mean at the very least either dropped scales of slightly torn fins. The lowest number i'd go is 5 pieces so if you're getting 5 or more then you'll be fine, no worries. But if you were to only get say 2 pieces then you can expect one to be very badly beaten up cos' there'll always be an alpha. Doesn't really matter if you introduce them together or not. A little nipping and chasing here and there will always occur. I suggest adding other active tank mates and the use of a powerful wavemaker to as much as possible, bring fighting down to a minimum.

...got to agree on that. i'd only prefer to keep a single specimen. comm with other type of tankmates is ok with me.
