I was wondering if any of you know of any high energy foods with zero fat and low to zero unnatural sugar.

Im looking for a fruit or vegetable..or combination of both that act like an energy supplement. I want to eat before execising and get a little extra kick from my food.

I have been eating oranges and bananas and it seems to be a decent combination. Im just curious if there is something better that I can benefit from.

Thanks!

I'm not sure on exact fruits or veg but i would look at it more holistically. Rather than just some items as an energy kick i would make daily changes. Raw, uncooked, unprocessed foods have the most energy. Its why a vegan diet is very energizing.

Its a good point. It is also why I am almost completely vegan. I couldnt agree more that raw and uncooked / unprocessed foods are so much better for you. You can also get the most out of the food that way.

The only meat im eating now is fish for protein and also omega 3 in cold water fishes.

nuts, beans, potatoes,rice................. nuts have lots of protein and essential fats, beans have protein, rice and potatoes have carbs which are stored for energy. I don't think any food will give you a jolt, but these starches are use for longterm energy as well as providing mental energy (carbs contain suagrs that help fuel your brain). all but nuts are low in fat, and even those are good for you

honey is a great natural sugar and is quickly absorbed by the body. depending how sweet you like your food you could try mango with a drizzle of honey. but any fruit with a light drizzle of honey will do almost the same as a couple of cans of red bull.
when ive been exercising honey and fruit are a great pick me up afterwards as well as giving a boost before.

Brown rice or whole grain spaghetti give you energy to last... low carb but a high energy carb... and add beans and get packed with high protein... i am learning now to be a vegetarian... and it is not totally for the animal factor but also for the fact it really does make you feel so much better to omit meat out of your diet.. so add more info here please..love this subject.. so facinating to be into healthy natural foods..

oatmeal/porridge, I dono what you guys calls it and beans are absouletly loaded with complex carbs and protein which is great for getting ripped or getting in shape.
