I just recently set up an Eshoppes 300 wet/dry that is rated for 1200 GPH but I modified it by enlarging the drains to 1.5" and drilling out more holes in the drip tray. I was hoping that I would be able to get 1600 GPH through this thing. When I have it running at this flow rate, I notice that the drip trays are overflowing a bit and flooding the top. After closer inspection and playing with it, it is the filter floss that came with it that is causing the drip tray to overflow. I took the filter floss out and it was draining well with no flooding.
So, is there such thing as a high flow filter media I can use so that the water flows through better but still does an effective job at catching all the crap?
