in the next few months i will be buying and getting everthing ready for my high light 75 gallon tank. (need to let the discus grow out) but i was wondering if anyone has any experience with lighting. im pretty sure im either going with 2x150watt MH or a 4 bulb 4' tek light.

i was wondering if anyone had experience with these lights. my worry with the MH is the spill over of light that it will cause because it will be close to my couch and it could make it hard to see the tv (or anything if it gets you in the eye good enough ) and my worry with the tek is that its weight.

i like the MH for the "shimmer" and i like the tek for its style and the fact that its one of the most effective t5ho out (so i have read)

so if anyone has any experience with these please let me know. thanks for the help.

I prefer T5HO, its got an excellent spread and they run really cool. Plus you can mix bulbs for the desired look as well.

o ya i never thought about being able to mix bulbs. but it seems like the mh i could get more light for about the same price as a good quality t5 fixture but maybe not.

being a pendent im not as worried about heat and im sure enough light would get into the tank to allow good growth with mh its hard to justify a good t5 system when MH is a little cheaper. but it is still very much in the air.
