I've never had problems before in my 125 my nitrates and ammonia are both high. No stocking changes and tanks been running for a while. Should I do 30-50% WC daily?

Hi. I am having the same problem. Just recently started a new 75 gallon saltwater tank. All numbers were good and added 3 damsels and nitrite, nitrate and ammonia were still at zero so I added 4 clown fish 2 days ago and now the ammonia is off the chart. Any suggestions? Fish are looking stressed. I added ammonia lock and waited 24 hours but ammonia was still very high so I changed 50% of water. If ammonia is still high what should I do?

A couple of days ago i did a huge water change (80%) and change the cartridges on one of my filters and that caused a mini cycle. My ammonia levels were a little high. So the next day I did a 25% water change and added API Quick Start. This fixed my ammonia issue.

Ok I'll do the same. I bought this stuff called safestart by tetra.

Was this tank even cycled?

Could be multiple reasons why your ammonia is out of control, but sounds like for whatever reason your bb colony collapsed. First order of business is daily water changes (40%-50%); second, clean everything and get rid of existing mechanical filter(s) and replace with new ones.

Highly recommend you guys switch to Seachem Prime
