I do occasionally see "mulm" but it gathers under or in between them, it kind of looks like a gray substance on the sand, or at least I think thats what it is, I used to have a bunch of the halimeda plants gowing on the rocks but I think I over pruned it and it all died back (which may be a factor is the nitrates increasing) I have been slowly adding some more plants to the sump tank creating a refugium, and was thinking of adding another 50 gallong to the side of it for just plants, I much prefer the natural filtration to chemical, I have been looking at denitrators but that concept is still new to me and make me nervous. There is also a bacteria that my local fish store told me to use which I have been slowly adding to accumulate and its supposed to help also. I have been using the Seachem Purigen but I think I had it in there incorrectly, it was floating in my sump tank so I switched it into my Fulva filter so that the water would be forced through it. I also am considering my tesing kits may be contaminated, I was going to take a water sample into the fish store this weekend and see what they come out with.
Thanks all for you suggestions, Ill let you know how this goes, so many suggestions so hard to choose lol
