Im in the middle of cycling my tank , its a 90 gallon with 1 oscar 1 green terror 2 blood parrots . i was changing 15 - 20 gallons of water every 2 days because of high ammonia levels , now my ammonia is 0 but my nitite is high so i changed about 25 gallons of water yesterday . I went to my lfs ( which is pretty reputable theyve been around for 40 years ) they told me not to do water changes while the tank is cycling it will prolong the cycling , wont the fish suffer if the water gets to toxic ? the fish seem to be ok theyre swimming around and eating . thanks for youre help and this is a great website .

Both are correct. Your tank will cycle slower but your fish will be happier. There's nothing wrong with a slower cycle, some would disagree.

i went through the same thing in my 90g. Keep doing the water changes, thats what i did. Thats what youll have to do if you want to keep your fish safe, and im sure you do. It took my 90 like 2 and a half months to fully cycle but hey, at least my fish were safe. Just keep doing the same thing your doing and give it time. Everything will work out. Good Luck:)
