Hi bichir experts.
I am seriously considering to purchase a bichir pretty soon.
Before i do that, i would like to get the basic info about water chemistry and the bichir. I have been keeping a few fish over 7 years so i know stable PH is more important.
My tap water is pretty high ph (over 8). My questions is
what is the best bichir for high ph? According to my reseach, an ornate is from lake tanganyika so I am guessing it might be the best bichir for me.
My second question is is a WC bichir will breed in high ph water (high ph means high gh and kh) after it is fully acclimated for a few years?

I do not want to use a ro unit cuz i am not an expert about that and it seems like it is just too complicated to me.

Any answers from experts will be welcomed.
Thank you

EDIT: Nevermind haha I need to learn to read better. P. ornatipinnis and endlicheri would probably be best suited for your water.

Bichirs are pretty hardy, I dun think high or low PH will really affect them much as long as you acclimatise them.

More important to know which bichir you like. Buying by PH is a strange concept to me since all bichirs should do well as long in reasonable PH.

agree. any reasonable pH is fine as long as the extremes are avoided. Important thing is to have a stable and consistent pH.

I had a female 6" senegalus in a 55 mbuna tank until yesterday. Water around 8. She's eating and behaving just fine and has been for months. I think ideal is around neutral though so i'm moved her out of that tank yesterday
