High pH testing kit?

So my standard api test kit only goes up to 7.6, and I'm looking to set up a tank at around 8.

The guy at my LFS said that I should just get a saltwater test kit that ranges from 7.6-8.8, but don't those only come with a color scale for salt water or something?

What should I use to test a higher pH?

Get a digital pH meter, or a high-range FW test kit.

x2. I've got really hard water here (8.5) and never found a test kit that could accurately test it. I gave up and bought a meter.

I should have added to get yourself a digital ph meter. The test kits expire.
