Is there a big diffrence, other then price, between the Red bag Hikari Cichlid Color Enhancing Pellets and the new Hikari Bio Cichlid Pellets. I compared the bags and all the proteins and fats were all similar percentages. It says on the bag "Expect Rapid Growth". What's in the new stuff that would make them grow faster then regular pellets?

I just realized this is in the wrong forum, sorry about that.

I think it's the right forum it's a general aquarium question that i would like to know as well i have compaired the bags side by side and wondered :nilly: why does the bio cost 2 times as much as the gold label i don't know either?

I don't have an answer, but i personally have been feeding the bio for almost 3 weeks now and haven't noticed any difference. My RD gobbles them up just the same as the red bag. Possibly the "rapid growth" kicks in after a month?

I think that the Bio-Gold is supposed to have some type of beneficial micro-organisms in it. How it helps the fish is beyond me, unless it aids in digestion.

Get the Bio Gold. Go onto Petsmart.com and print out the webpage and show it to them, they have to price match and you get it for the same price as gold.

Bio says "expect rapid growth" but it also has garlic extract in it(to aid hunger), also with "rapid growth" is supposed to be reduced waste, stress reduction(vitamin c) and increased diseased resistance(again from vitamin c). Also contains Spirulina and Astaxanthin.

I haven't noticed much difference but Hikari's always good no matter what type of pellet IMO you get good colors.

That being said I buy both and mix 'em together.
