Im training my 1.5 red to eat hikari sticks from his regular diet of shrimps.

how long did it take you guys to do this?

week 1, he is going fo rit, chews it up, sometimes he swallows little bits but 90% of the time he spits out.

he started doing this after day 2 wehen he got really hungry

how long do you think it will take!!??

I had two aros, one at the sticks within one week and the other is still spitting it out only eating part of the sticks now.

You just have to keep being persistent and eventually hunger will make them eat what ever is floating at the top of the tank

I got mine to go crazy about Hikari sticks... for my job I had to work in another city for 3 months, and my family is terified of blood worms, mealworms, earth worms, crickets (all forms of bugs), so I had to train him to eat hikari sticks. It took about 3 weeks.

week 1: Would not touch the sticks with a 10 feet pole
week 2: Looks at the sticks but didn't eat it
week 3: bites the stick, chew up the thing and spit it all over the place (pain in the *** to clean up after)
week 4: he got the point, he has to eat stick or it's death

Now he's crazy about it...well not right now since he's sick.. but when he was healthy he loved it.

its been day 8 now, no other food but hikari sticks or sinking carnivore pellets whch i give to the CK and Organte Bichir.

he doesnt even go for the sinking carnivore. but pellets with in day 2, hes attacking the sticks, chews it up and spits out, at times i see him take the pelletst and spits out maybe 30% to 50% of it and the rest he swallows - i want him to take it now! lol

Its all mine will eat now. He used to like Fugian shrimp but, spits those out. There was Spectrum pellets, expensive, hated those too. So, its either Hikuri or goldfish. And I lost another aro to dirty goldfish and am not going back there again!

What I dislike is how my oscar eats them. He makes the biggest mess with chunks going everywhere.
