Just an FYI. I was at Petsmart (yea I know but it was convenient at the moment) yesterday and I needed some more Hikari Gold. Well they have it in the normal red package I buy and then I noticed a blue package that I hadn't seen before. I compared the ingredients and descriptions and they were pretty much the same. The main difference from what I could tell was the red I usually buy had 2oz of pellets while the blue had 3.5oz (and costs just 2 dollars more). So I thought wow, almost double the pellets for only two dollars more.
Anyhoo, I asked the Petsmart employee (of whom had been pointed out to me to be a wizard at this sort of information) what the difference between the two was because I couldn't see it from the packaging. He said that Hikari likes to change the colors of their packaging from time to time, mentioning that they used to have a white package too at some point. It was all a merketing ploy according to him.
Turns out that the blue one has sinking pellets in it (I don't see Hikari mentioning that on the package or I missed it). I imagine the clever white packages he was referring to is the algae wafers.
So just as an FYI, stick to the red unless you are feeding earth eaters or something like that. I ended up buying the red ones later on at Walmart.
