My Odoe hits Hikari Gold like a Pbass and my Bichirs LOVE Massivore(Never leave the bag open though). The only Frozen food I trust is Hikari I do feed NLS but it's only because I couldn't find pellets big enough for my Calvus. And I've thought of getting the Garlic+ to get my Afro to eat pellets....
But If I get any Lorcariid I'm going to get Omega One or NLS as a staple +veggies
The hikari sinking carnivore pellets are the staple for all my fish at the moment. I have two bags of the cichlid staple (medium & small pellets) but nothing really seems interested in them. Sometimes I'll see a convict eat one, the jd will actually grab them then spit them out...well she did once or twice, now she knows whats up and ignores them.
I try and coax the jd to eat the staple and she'll just wait (impatiently) mid tank for the carnivore pellets to start sinking for her. I think she actually at like 5 or 6 of the carnivore pellets last night before she stopped going after them.
I'm tempted to get a bag of the sinking cichlid gold to see if she'd go for those, but all petsmart has is the 22$ bag of large pellets. I think they'd be too big right now anyways, and if she doesn't go for them then I've wasted even more money on it:\ I think at this point I'm going to stick with sinking carnivore & move up to massivore when they get big enough. but I'm going to try and find something else for the cichlids. Now that I have the pictus & bichirs out of the cichlid tank I want to dedicate the carnivore/massivore to them and find a cichlid specific (+ tiger barbs) diet for them.
Oh I also grabbed a bag of the tropical micro-pellets for my fry. Skipped the first bites because I think they're past that already, but they're tearing these micro-pellets up and its a lot easier than dealing with crushing up food for them.
tl;dr version:
I suppose I've had mixed success. I'll be sticking with them for my bichirs, pictus cats & convict fry, but I'll be trying something else for my cichlids & tiger barbs
