Did a little hike on Friday. 10 miles round trip. This is Otter Falls, we didn't see another soul the whole 10 mile hike. Technically it's not a waterfall, it's a 1500 foot granite slide that snow melt runs off. It dries up by July usually.

At the base

wow thats awesome looking Jamie.

Yeah, I just found out about the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie river recently, lots of amazing hikes out of that area. I'm backpacking in to some hot springs in a couple weeks for the weekend.

Here are a couple from Mailbox peak, one peak over from Mt. Si. This one kicked my ass, only 5 miles round trip but the elevation gain is nuts.

This was after going up in 1.5 hours and down in 1. So pardon the hair...

Otter Falls is some goodly distance up the valley in the last photo...

Beautiful place! However, I'm afraid your gold is Iron Pyrite.:(

Damn. I'm not a millionaire. :(

Naw, we knew it wasn't gold....as it was the lightest sediment in the creek. We figured it was just flakes out of the granite.

You must be in great shape..or hurting really bad today... what beautiful pics and what a beautiful serene place...

For Mailbox Peak? well it's 4000 feet elevation gain over 2.5 miles (13200 feet) so the average slope is 30.3%. The last scramble before the summit is 40%.

The otter falls is much less, it's 500 feet over 5 miles (26400 feet) so the average slope is 1.9%.
