I bought some hillstream loaches (sold at walmart as butterfly plecos). They do not eat flake food like the guy said. So far I have not seen them eat anything. I have gotten conflicting info off the net. One person says that they eat algae wafers and another says they are not algae eaters. :wall:

Any info will be appreciated.

They are hillstream loaches, and do not belong to the Loricariidae family. They will eat algae, and algae wafers. Essentially give them a the same diet a herbivore pleco. They don't take well to higher temperature for the most part.

I agree.

I've had a few of these guys before. Yeah...they're mostly herbivores so plenty of greens and algae.

On another note, hillstream loaches appreciate relatively strong water movement in the tank:)

Never seen mine eat anything either, had him about 8 months not a speck of algae in the tank since ive had him

Cool, that is encouraging. They haven't shown interest in cucumbers. Not while I am there anyway. I went out to walmart specifically for algae wafers and came back with 101 things except algae wafers...Maybe I need to make a one item list...
