I was thinking about getting these Giant hissing cockroaches as pet only. However I dont know which bedding would be better and can I use sponge for the water?

2 inches of substrate would be good so if they burrow you can find them easier and as for a sponge for water i have no clue:D

Ok 2 inch deep it is. By way which substrate I should use if I want it to be clean and dry and not be hard on the nymphs?

Buy a brick of Eco Earth or any other coco-fiber organic soil.

Ok thanks Vicious_Fish. Cant wait to get these hissing roaches, they seems very interesting and easy to take care pet. However, theres different species of hissing roaches and I really like the tiger hissing roach but I also like the Madsagcar too. I dont know about the tiger hissing roaches very much so are tigers have same requirements as Madsagcar?

You can keep them on no substrate as for watering/humidity I like to just spray the tank every couple days.

Careful about the nymphs of these, they can be very good escape artists:ROFL:

You can say that a couple more times:ROFL:
My mom works in a public library and they did a summer program on bugs, so I set them up a little display of Madagascar hissers. Over the course of the summer, the female had babies twice and they seemed to get out of everywhere. I've heard putting Vaseline around the top edge of the cage keeps them in though. I've never tried it personally.

They are pretty cool though.

Smearing an inch of vaseline around the top usually keep most in but some babies will just climb right pass.
