Hello.

I have O w/ a an issue.

my 8-10 inch O was in a 125 g, 6 ft tank. one of her tank mates stressed her (he went LFS) and my GH was too high... she showed some pits in a few areas. oh no HITH.

This is what I have done. on 9/15 put her in a hospital tank, raised the temp to 82-84 f and salted the tank. also did a 5 day course of metronitozole (suggested by my LFS). after day 5 did a water tank, added some salt.

Most pits are healing and looking better. One small, hole/pit didn't improve and seems to be getting worse, and one tiny hole/pit up by her top fin didn't improve.
The holes by her left nostril look funny, can they get some holes/pits in that area from HITH?

Is there something else I should be doing??

Or will this just take time. I feel like she is stressed, not happy in her smaller hospital tank. She has been in the 6ft tank for 2+ yrs

the drama of an unhappy fish :nilly: I am worried about her!

I am at work and don't have pix. If they would help let me know. the hole/pits are small. I am not sure if they would show up.

I've read on here that the best way to treat HITH is to get your water quality pristine (obviously zero ammonia and nitrites, but nitrates also need to be kept low to promote faster healing I think).

So, be sure to keep up on the water changes on the hospital tank. Probably not a bad idea to be doing daily changes (20-30%) for the next week or so. Unless the water changes interfere with medications...in which case you probably want to follow the instructions of the meds.

But, I don't necessarily know what I'm talking about ;) so definately seek 2nd opinions.

When you say you did a water tank, did you mean water change? I've never dealt with that medication before, but does it say to only do a w/c after the 5th day?

yes I did a water change after the 5th day. I was thinking faster than typing. LOL

I tested my water....
kh 3
gh 8
ph 7.0
nitrate 0

A new issue popped up today. ick
I purchased 3 new fish days ago. I have ick in both tank. I treated with Quick Cure (suggestion by LFS)

I Will do 20-30% water changes daily
do you think this will help.
Should I add melafix to the O tank. to help fight off secondary infection.

other than water changes, perfect water, any other suggestions...

Thanks in adance fir your Time and Info!!!
