I am in the process of treating my pike for a bad case of HITH.
Water Changes
Removal of Carbon
Salt
Water Conditioners
VItamins and diet
Metro

I am working with all of the above variables, I have heard that HITH heals slowly.
The question is, how slowly???
Can I expect the lessions to heal in 1 week, 1 month or 1 year?

I appreciate responses from anyone who has had success.
Thanks

It will take a few months at the least from my experience.

Agreed, but you should see some improvement starting in a week or two.

Thanks, I have seen from previous posts that you have dealt with this. I wanted a reference point on when I could see improvement.I will keep the site updated on my progress. My pike is my pride and joy and I am feeling very badly that I let him progress this far. I am focusing very hard on getting him well. Attached is a shot of his current condition.

Would you recommend adding the metro to the water or to the food???

Thanks

be careful adding salt, though it helps to clean out the hith and relax the fish, too much can actually keep his wounds open.

both

Thanks for the responses. It appears to not be spreading, but I do not see any signs of healing.
I am debating about pulling him out of the big tank and putting him in with some antibiotics in my small tank. I have heard of some people swapping Iodine onto the lessions.

Any thoughts on this?????????

I have done that, Also hydrogen peroxide, sometimes the lesions get a secondary bacterial infection that keeps them from healing, either antibiotics or old school topicals like iodine will help.

heavy water changes are a must for treating hith. A lot of the times water quality issues are the cause rather than pathogens. Try doing 2-3 water changes a week.
