OK guys I have been keeping SA/CA Cichids for almost 20 years now and have had the occasional run in with HITH (usually due to being young and not keeping up with maintenance). I have always been able to easily cure the problem, but now I am stumped.

I have a 150 with 6 small-mid sized silver dollars, a small immature Dovii, and a midsized Salvini. Filtration is a XP3 and two Bio-Wheel 350s. I do 35%-60% water changes usually twice a week and every week at the very least. I feed mixed pellets of hickari excelle, Omega one, and NLS, along with frozen treats of shrimp, smelt, and salmon.

PH-7.0
Ammonia-0ppm
Nitrite-0ppm
Nitrate-40ppm

Yet the Salvini's HITH seems uncureable and getting worse. Any secret tips will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds to me like you might actually have Hexamite Parasite problems since its not your water conditions. Try a brand by Jungle called "Hole in Head". It says to do a 25% water change everytime you put the meds in. It claims to only take three treatments. Good luck!

I forgot to add that I have been adding to the food and treating the tank with metronidazole.

I was just going to add that I havent used carbon in that tank for over six months and that I just finally added some this week to see if it will help

not while medicating as it will screw up your treatment, it takes all medicine out of the water

Nope, I quit medicating two or three weeks ago since after other a month of medicating showed no improvement. I am still feeding medicated food though.
