Last night I noticed a white mark on one of my O's head.

I am not sure if this is a result of a fight or if this is HITH...

How can I tell what it is?

With a 120g tank, how much salt would you advise?

Never used it before so do I just get the amount of salt and then just pour it in?

I'd suggest a tablespoon per gallon but since you have 120g, i'd stay away from the salt for now, unless you move the fish to a smaller hospital tank.

Here's some info from another site that might help

Raising the tank temp into the 90's should help unless you have fish in the tank that can't tolerate the high temp.

Thanks for the link... :)

Anyone else have idea's what would be best? So far one says to go salt and melafix, other says don't...

Not really saying not to use salt. Just concerned about how much salt is needed to treat a 120g tank.

I believe heat treatment is more effective and easier to manage when big tanks are involved. Heat will kill most microorganisms in the tank. Just make sure all the tank inhabitants can handle the extra heat. Most tropicals do.

Good luck NBK.

Thank Chi! I'll be doing an extra water change again tonight and clean out one of my filters the other later this week.

Hopefully if I keep doing that then it'll all get better. Also will do the frozen food I read about somewhere and pump up the heat a bit. I keep my tank at 26C so I'll go up to about 28C and hope that IF its HITH then it'll clear up.

Long story short he keeps scraping his head on decor. The melafix worked great on him and the other fish( there colors were a bit brighter).I added salt as well but my fish are in a 55. My fish seem to like the salt, they even eat a little of it.
Hope everthing turns out!!!
