I read the thread about the HITH, and I still can't find what to use to treat this.

I have a 10'' JD who I think has HITH. I've never experienced this before, so I am just guessing. It looks like it.

He was being housed in a turtle tank before I got him, and he won't eat anything BUT feeders, which I know... are BAD.

I stopping feeding him the feeders, and I have been doing constant water changes, but that's not helping.

What can I use to fix him?

pristine water conditions, healthier diet, remove carbon. patience is key, hith does not heal quickly, if at all.

The water conditions are perfect. They are checked everyday. I do water changes every 2 days of 30%.

There is a 12 inch air stone as well.

Temp is 76.

Trying to get him to eat Hikari Gold (what previous owner was feeding), as well as Shrimp pellets. Am going to try frozen blood worms.

Was told there is something called Metrocondizole or something like that, that can be used. Is this true?

Do you think this is from him being in the Turtle tank? He's had it since I got him, just didn't really think too much into it at first.

I got rid of the tiny HITH on my Oscar by: Removing charcoal, adding a vitamin/mineral pyramid, treating with praziquantel and reducing water changes to 50% once per week. I can't be sure which were effective and which were pointless, but it worked.

I know vitamins are needed, as it's sometimes caused by their nutrition lacking. So vitamin block would have helped.

Prazi I am very familiar with as we use it on Koi for Flukes, and other gram positive parasites. Don't know if it would have helped or not.

I will have to look into what I can find...
