Hitting pellets & holding them down. Then spitting.

As I've said before my two Os eat food sticks already for the most part still spitting SOME of it out but they are defiantly eating so Im not to worried about them.

My stubborn Kel is now starting to nail them once it hits the water and holding it in for a good 10-15 seconds or so but spitting it all out. At what point do I just offer sticks only and stop the frozen fish. I want to show tough love! At this point shes eating her big meals at night and doing the pellet thing during the day. I would like her to eat 3 times a day like the other guys. Basically what Im asking is how long should I starve her in between training. I would say the kels closer to 4 inches now.

sounds like they may be to large for the fish. I know most fish ive seen do this are because they want to eat it but cant get it down so they release it after holding it for a while. How big of pellet is it?

That could be it. I just never thought of it cause they eat prepared fish thats like the size of them ha. Anyway there Hikari food sticks they dont seem too big at all. But I cant say ive tried to break them in half maybe ill give that a shot.

your Kel is almost pellet trained. Just starve it for a day, Im sure the next day it will swallow. Compared to Datnoids Pbass are easy to pellet trained. My 4" farmie is eating massivore and Carni Sticks which are bigger than Foodsticks. Good Luck

Hold off on the frozen and only offer the foodsticks in the morning for a few days. As long as he's mouthing them already it should be pretty easy from there.

Well the other fish eat 3 pellets times a day. Your saying just dont feed the kel for a few days? Just makes me nervous this is my first group of WC fish haha. I hope this happens within the next couple days because Im going away for work next week and my old lady will NOT appreciate the smell of thawd fathead minnows lol.
