Recently I just lost two red tail and one yellowtail barracuda due to Ich. I'm assuming it was from feeders because my water quality is always good.
Remaining in the tank are two dwarf mosaic gar and they show no signs of ich.
I read about the salt treatment along with heat. I raised the temperature to 83 and added proper aquarium salt. I also added an air stone. I plan on doing 25% water changes daily.
Is there any other course of action I should take ? If they show no signs should I assume it's ok?

Bump up the tank to 89 degrees slowly. Cudas usually get it due to stress. The transfer from lfs to tank can do it and is the most likely cause.

Feeders can give it as well.

Dim the lights a bit of able and keep some floating plants.

Yes heat is your best friend for ich. I have one sensitive fish so I keep it at 78 degrees like normal and add salt. It takes a while for ich to go away but eventually it does. I did meds one time since all my fish got it and was scared some might die. I had one literally covered in it so bad.

Water changes everyday and heat should suffice. I add salt to the tank as well but heat is the key to beating this thing.

That's how I've always taken care of it. I don't know about the heat tolerance of those fish but I'd bump that up a little bit.

i woukd add some meds. The cudas may not make the full several weeks of treatment of they are small

Larger fish close to 8inches and bigger will handle the time needed to clear Ich without meds but not the juveniles.

I had ich in my tank just a couple of days ago. I got it from a diseased Angelfish I bought, and it spread within twelve hours. It got to every fish, with the tiger barbs getting the worst of it. I used meds within eight hours of noticing the disease, and all of the larger fish made it, along with my 1" Bala and Severum. I also bumped my temp up to 82-83, and that seemed to take care of the problem.

I feel like this is asked quite frequently....is there a sticky somewhere? :)

Anyway did not read others replies but I am sure they are all the same as mine; no meds, slowly increase temperature to 89 F, add salt as directed and add extra aeration if you do not have plenty to begin with. Let sit for 1 week or so (less would be adequate but just to be on the side of caution) and then slowly lower down (.5 degree a day) to your preferred temp.

Depending on your tanks temp right now raising it that high can be stressful on fish (regardless of what your temp is at now 89 F is pretty high) so be sure to add extra O2 to the tank and keep an eye on the fish for signs of lethargy.

heat, can add salt to thicken the slime coat, 87 to 90, This speeds up there life cycle so fast that they can not survive. heat stays up for 2 weeks after you know longer see any on your fish.

lots of water changes and heavy vacuuming also.

Thanks everyone. It's day 3 of high temperature and salt. The remaining fish (gar) still have no signs of ick. It was only the barracuda that had it and they died. Maybe these gar aren't prone to it I hope. I'll continue this treatment for the rest of the week.
