Dont know if this was posted before or not, but I thought I should give it a shot.

You know how Hob filters ( aquaclear for example ) has an intake and an output Well, say you wanted some more media but cant fit it in the hob. Would it be possible to cut out a hole in a big sponge ( like people do for sponge filters ) and place that around the intake of the aquaclear?

What would be the advantage and disadvantage to this * if it even worked *

I was just thinking because If I want to start raising fry they might get sucked into my filter and I wouldent want that to happen.

Yes. And allot of people do it for that same reason.. Emperor 400's come with a sponge fitting that goes right over the intake on theirs

I am actually surprised that ac doesn't come with them

It really depends on the type of sponge. Some allow water to flow through them more than others. You will have to ask around to see what people use.
