Dont know if this was posted before or not, but I thought I should give it a shot.

You know how Hob filters ( aquaclear for example ) has an intake and an output Well, say you wanted some more media but cant fit it in the hob. Would it be possible to cut out a hole in a big sponge ( like people do for sponge filters ) and place that around the intake of the aquaclear?

What would be the advantage and disadvantage to this * if it even worked *

I was just thinking because If I want to start raising fry they might get sucked into my filter and I wouldent want that to happen.

Thanks, If you dont get what I wrote I could try and draw up a pic.

Yes. And allot of people do it for that same reason.. Emperor 400's come with a sponge fitting that goes right over the intake on theirs :)

I am actually surprised that ac doesn't come with them :(

It really depends on the type of sponge. Some allow water to flow through them more than others. You will have to ask around to see what people use.
