Seeing as how there was a surprise death this morning of BOTH my baby silver aro and hybrid cat, I won't be needing to move them to my 125. I have no idea how they died either. The water params were fine too. They were in my 20 gallon growout.

ANYWAY, just brainstorming what I should do for my 125 that I'm STILL working on. My options are clearly in the post title, just wondering what else I could put with each option? Any suggestions? I have read a ton on discus, but does anyone have any experience with fronts or crappies? I can get crappies in May.

Thanks again guys!

I'd make sure I knew why 3 fish all died at the same time 1st. You sure someone didnt chuck a few pennies in there or something? Seems extremely peculiar to lose 3 fish on the same day with all 'params' being 'fine'.

Well that was in my 20 long. I've run my 125 for a while with no problems and the correct fish keeping knowledge, it's just torn down at the moment cause of substrate change. But I didn't find any cause of death. I'm thinking maybe the hybrid wanted a bite of the aro and couldn't finish him? Idk.

Anybody else?

I would rethink putting Fronts in a 125. A colony of 6 needs at least a 6' 180g minimum. And unless you buy an adult group of 1m and 5f (big ca$h) you are going to have to start off with at least 12 to cull off the extra males (18 would be better). In which case you shouldn't use the 125 for even a grow out. They grow notoriously slow and you have to keep the water perfect for Tangs. Good luck with whatever you go with!

Crappie are boring. I have two black crappie and have kept many others. They just find a spot and hang out all day. About the only time they move around is during feeding time or when they are getting ready to spawn then they defend an area.Otherwise they are really beautiful peaceful fish.
