behind my iMac.... Southampton UK.
posted this under a different title i reptile section but thought id see what you guys thought of it too:

ok my girlfriend has done some dumb things in the past but this might just crown it off if it doesn't work....

returned home to find a new addition to her tank: a sweet lil map turtle.... shes got every thing right and done her research except for he tank did and still is where her 2 redline snakeheads are. shes been on about finding something to tank with them for ages and as i wasn't here to stop her she decided to do it. so far all is good, it seems to be working nicely but what do u guys think the long term out come will be? does the turtle need to be relocated???

thanks peps!

(p.s the tank is mine as are the snakeheads, only said she could have them to shut her up ;). they remain in my house under my care for life, no matter what!)

im not a SH pro but i wouldnt think think will survive

i dont think this is a good idea, feeding may be one of the problems, and bio load, turtles are very messy

Just because she's a girl doesn't make her dumb. My fiance does some goofy things with my pumps and neglects to tell me....But if she's just dumb in general....I've got nothing esle to say on that.....She obviously didn't think about this before going ahead.

You can NOT house fish and reptiles together!! You can't house fish with anything but fish, and inverts (on occasion) especially a carnivorous reptile whos diet consists mainly of fish meat!!

That turtle's pretty darn lucky he's not bite-size either. All fish are oppurtunity feeders. They'll eat what they can, when they can, whether it's good for them or not.

Get the turtle out of your fishtank, before diseases get passed, and tell your girlfriend to pick up a rubber tote, or a proper tank for that turtle!!

Tell her, that with predatory fish, everything's a snack-food!! And if she really cares about that turtle, or those fish, he'll need to be moved....if she refuses, move the turtle yourself, or get rid of it.

BTW, I understand it's her tank, her fish. But this mix is risky for all animals involved, and cannot be allowed....Sorry if I seem mean or nasty.

I take it the reds are still small as i think the problem might be the other way round when they get bigger they will rip him apart no legs or head i should think i wouldn't do it..

i am also wondering how big these snakeheads are. i know and adult redline would not tolerate a turtle in there for a second!

map turtles also require a basking spot and UV lighting. how will you manage that in the fish tank?
