Today my wife and I stopped into Cabelas to check out their native aquarium display. Really sad to see the kind of shape most of their fish were in! You'll see from the pics that most of the fish have a mixed bag of head and lateral line erosion, gill curl, open wounds, clouded eyes, broken backs, missing eyes, shredded fins, popeye, and the list goes on-you get the idea. There were even dead fish (looked like Bluegill) stuck in the skimmer overflow box. Weird these fish wouldn't be better cared for or at least culled! The only fish that really seemed in fair shape were their Flatheads, a few Walleye, a Carp, and smaller Yellow Perch. Time to drain the tanks and put all of their nice taxidermy in the aquariums???

shoot man ya could offered them your skills for money to maintain the tank

I would call your local aspca or fish and game it is very clear that those fish are not being cared for.

Its a shame at how the fish look and are treated, you think for cabella's knowing their native tanks are huge attractions for people that they would care for them better. There is a Cabella's being built in my home town Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. its the first one i've seen so far in Canada. Saskatchewan is quite strict on what species can be kept for what purpose so im very suprised to find out if we will have a native tank or not. does anyone know who is in charge of keeping the fish? is it an employee or some outside source???

I find it odd how a pike that size in their large aquariums would get such bad gil curl. When i saw the trout in the Calgary Alberta bass pro shop i was disapointed aswell many of them had diseases aswell.
