General question I've got a jack small juvenile. I'm just wondering if I could put him in there with the hogaboomaroo. He's not to much bigger honestly he's pretty chill. I know aggression and stuff he's been a loner in his tank the whole time. I'm in middle of tank swaps. Do you think it'd be possible seeing how they from the same local or do you think the hogaboomaroo will take him out shes a pretty laid back one. She'sike 3 and a half in the Jack's like 2 in

Welcome aboard

How large is the aquarium?

Unless your hoga is very laid back, I doubt the JD will fare very well.
Even in nature when JDs live in a habitat with other more dominant cichlids they don't do well.
And as tlindsey alluded, tank size will matter
In the first video below, JDs are the dominant cichlid.

Next video, they are not

Yeah I understand my jaguar really well she's a handful. But the jack is superrrr inquisitive. The high actually swims in my hands let's me touch and pet her some.

even in a large tank, if the Hogaboomorum is already established and there are no other cichlids, and you drop the jack dempsey in, hoga will likely attack it. Perhaps because Hoga is young it won't kill the jack right away, personally I wouldn't risk it.

Here is a pic of my hoga, 13" or so when I had him. In a 6' tank he was the boss but did allow some tough tankmates, though he also did attack and kill a few unfortunately.
