I am thinking about using hokie stone in my aquarium and have a question. It is limestone and i was wonder if that did anything to the PH? i remember hearing of some rock that did it and i was wondering if this were the rock
Thanks!

What the deuce is a hokie stone?

Anyways, limestone will raise the pH and the hardness of the water. I'd test it out for a couple of months in an empty container of water to see how much.

tis the stone used to build every virginia tech building...looks very nice. i thought it did. is there anyway to counter balance this effect? adding peat or CO2?

You can test it with muric acid I believe. If you see bubbles then it will raise the PH and hardness. Bog logs or drift wood will lower your PH to some degree but getting them in balance might be rather tricky.

You need to find out how much of an affect it has on your water before you decide what measures, if any, need to be taken.
