Nice!! I'm used to chillin at fish forums, where we talk about fish, so this is a totally different setting for me, might take me a bit to get the hang of thangs. Schnauzer referred me to this site cuz i was talkin to him about wantin to take better photos, so here I be. I just recently (tonight actually) won a Kodak Z700 4MP digital camera from Ebay. Happy times are soon to ensue!! I have been using, umm, don't member what it was, but I wasn't horribly thrilled with its performance. One of my buddies mentioned this camera to me and that I should try it out, so I went out and ordered it. Not to shabby lookin of a camera. Anyone have any experience with it? Thankz in advance! One quick question though, how do you upload pictures here? Cuz i don't see any options for it, and this is a camera centered site...odd...maybe I'm just missin it. Anywho, cheers!

I am pleased you made it here P_P . You will get a lot of constructive criticism and they will tell you what you got right . Just don't develop a thin skin because every criticism is ment to help .
I remember when I started I believe it was Ed that said " in a year you will be deleteing pictures that you think are great now " . He was so right .
Start putting your pictures in photography 101 and in a short time I bet you will be almost as hooked on photography as you are on pike cichlids .

Give it time P_P . You will get all kinds of help .
I can't give a lot of advice on the point and shoot cameras because I have very little experiance with them .
Lots of people use their on-board flash with a wrap or more of tissue paper around it to take the glare away . The more light you can get on the subject the easier it is to get a picture . Of course nothing is as good as a seperate flash above the tank .
Start learning to use the manual settings on your camera . Everything the camera does on automatic is a compromise . Using a smaller aperture ( larger number ) will get more of the fish in focus . Again the smaller the aperture the more light you need . The faster the shutter speed the more you will stop blur from the fish moving . Again light comes into play . If you use the flash , it will freeze the movement for you .
I think that when you get the new camera or with this one until you get the new one you should start experimenting with the manual settings . Try different settings and practice . Its very easy to delete those that aren't up to snuff .
Try to have your shutter speed and your focal length 1 to 1 for now . That is -- if your lense is at 5omm for instance have your shutter set to at least 50 , then set your aperture to what ever gives you enough light for the picture .
Do you have any kind of post processing software yet ? You will find it very valuable in getting your picture to look the way you want .
I seldom give advise because their are many that are better at giving advise than I . I'm sure you will get some comments and help with the pictures .

I need to know what all that stuff is, like the +/- is the aperature right? And how do i adjust shutter speed? Haha....TOTAL newbie here! I have played around with the settings, but not horribly too much cuz i know not what I am doing!

I don't know your camera P_P . Their aren't many on right now plus its the weekend and many are away doing things . Their will be a big surge of people sooner or later and probably someone that is familiar with your camera . I would think their should be some information in the manual if you look it over .

I suggest you spend time (online or with a manual) learning what those things are. A lot of help here, including some explanations will rely on you knowing those things for youre Specific camera. Advice is only good if it can be followed through on.

Welcome to APF!
