I bought some fish, the seller decieded to ship them with no cold packs or anything to control the heat when sending to Phoenix, AZ in the middle of summer. Well, they sat on the deliver truck for a few hours and When the package arrived the water was 100 degrees and the fish were fried. The seller blamed it on me and said it was my fault I didnt tell him it was hot in arizona during the summer:screwy: Ended up losing $30. What I have learned: Dont assume the seller has a brain! Make sure to tell them its hot in the desert during summer and request your package is held at the post office for pick up!

I usually ship FedEx Priority Overnight, and have the fish shipped to my local Kinkos, because that is the driver's first stop, so the fish always come by 10am. I live in Peoria, btw.

As for USPS...I bought $100 of fish on Aquabid, and the seller insisted the fish would be fine sent USPS, free shipping, and he refused to send FedEx. I asked that he have the box delivered to the same Kinkos store, NOT the mailbox, and somehow the box ended up delivered in the main mailbox, in 100 plus degrees, at 6pm at night, and it stayed overnight until I was emailed that the box had arrived. Total DOAs, and the seller refused a refund, saying that I needed to be more on the ball with getting the fish inside asap. Never mind he had shipped them to the wrong place period.

always priority overnight for me and my wife is home to recieve when I'm not there. fish are always packed with cooling packs from the places I buy from as they check the zip codes (seriously it's not that hard lol) never had an issue.

How dumb can people be. Its hot almost everywhere in the US in the summer. Here in Indiana its been in the 90s for the last week and the fish would fry up here as well. He should be shipping with cold packs about everywhere in the summer months. Sorry anout your loss.

wow that sucks i live in mesa glad a read this so when i get my piranhas i dont have any problems! ...some ppl just have no common knowlege! haha not sending fish to az in the summer with out cold packs? everyone knows its a big oven here! would you send a fish to the north pole in december without heat packs? haha wow

Hey AZ folks...check out http://www.phoenixfishbox.com/index.php

Not my site, but its nice to have a local fish forum to chat on.

And yes, I want to get some fish for my new tanks I just got, but I think I'm going to wait until winter to have anything shipped if I can't find what I want locally. I seem to always have bad luck with having things shipped to me. Even if it is overnighted, by the time they get it to me in the afternoon...sitting on an unairconditioned truck all day seems to still take its toll.
