I set up an Mbuna tank in mid February, and now have a holding Acei. She and the male are both about 3", but he is much larger in mass. I noticed a couple days after she was holding that they were still trying to breed. Is there a chance the eggs are not fertilized?
Last night (8 days holding) I transferred Mom into a 10 gallon with a sponge filter. It was a chore to catch her and I thought sure she would spit her eggs, but she didnt. The gallon is bare bottom with just a couple rocks for cover. My heater took off through the night and I woke up to an 85 degree tank, instead of 80 where it has been running all week. She's still holding and the temp is slowly dropping....I sure hope I didnt hurt anythng with the high temp.
Should I have a light on the holding tank?
If this is successful I plan to start the fry with crushed flake...is this a good plan or should I order something else while I still have time?
Any suggestions are appreciated.
