I treated him in a 20 gallon quarantine tank with an oase biomaster 600 on it, with daily 50% water change. I didn’t know what was causing it and what other things he might have so I hit him with seachem kanaplex and metroplex in both the water and mixed in with food. If you mix the meds in food make sure to use focus to bind them together. The food is very messy hence the daily water changes. I did one round of the meds and then I put him in his own 75 gallon. I assume that he was surrendered to my local fish store after being kept in horrible conditions. He has one eye that’s scarred up but other than that he’s a normal Oscar. Clean water and nutrition are the best treatment. My fish also has a severe puncture in the head and is showing signs of spreading. How did you overcome the fish's illness?
Oh, what brand did you use and where did you get it?Medical grade Vitamin C is good too...Oscars require Vit C. I used to just shake some over my O's head and he would breathe it in. His head stayed smooth as a baby's butt (ph here is 7.6-7.8) The powder also has a long shelf life and is absorbed quickly through the tissues.
Good advice! I’ve also had success in the past using Brightwell VitaMarin C. It’s a vitamin c supplement for reef tanksThis was one brand I used. My Oscar actually liked the taste of the stuff. On Amazon. Store in fridge and keep dry.
